Why Aashiyana exists

Goa is paradise for tourists. For too many girls, it is a danger.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau, Goa records the highest per-capita human trafficking incidents in India - five times the national average. Most victims are children from impoverished families.

The crisis

Goa records 1 trafficking case per lakh population vs. the national average of 0.2 - making it a vulnerable hotspot for child exploitation.

The driver

Poverty leaves families vulnerable. Traffickers exploit rural communities in neighbouring Maharashtra and Karnataka, promising "better lives" in Goa.

Our response

Safe shelter, formal education, counselling and skill-building - a complete ecosystem that gives every girl a chance to rewrite her future.

Our work

One complex. Five interlocking programmes.

Aashiyana is more than a children's home. It is an integrated child-development and community-welfare ecosystem.

Children's Home

A safe, residential home for vulnerable girls - shelter, food, healthcare, education and emotional support.

Aashiyana Institute

A government-recognised primary school serving 162 students this year, aligned with NEP 2020.

Skill College

Goa College of Skill Development - vocational training and employability courses for older girls and youth.

Community Outreach

After-school tutorials, teacher training, women's health camps, parent counselling - serving thousands beyond our walls.

Success story

Shabnam's journey of hope

"Born into an impoverished family, I had seen the harsh realities of life from an early age. The moment I stepped into Aashiyana, I knew this was the place where I could change my destiny."

Today Shabnam is studying for a Bachelor's in Nursing in Dharwad, Karnataka - proof that with shelter, education and unwavering support, every girl's future can be rewritten.
